I think I'm regretting posting here already.this is why I try and stay away from the home improvement section. Is the angle of the web braces a concern? I drafted this in AutoCad, so the angles are correct. I can place one directly over a supporting wall, while the other is close to a supporting wall.your thoughts. The location of the web braces is of concern. I just want to contain it and prevent further sagging.

Plus I may be causing stress and separation in other areas. I am not in favor of trying to jack the roof as the lumber is quite dry. I have noticed a few places where the roof is sagging, and thought it would be wise to add extra support.

Step 2- Install web bracing as illustrated in Fig.3. What should I use as fasteners? How many fasteners? Is 2'x3' board sufficient as I plan on leaving existing collar tie in place? I don't want to be banging and pulling on the rafters. Step 1- Reinforce every other rafter with 2'x3' collar ties and leave the existing collar tie in place (Fig.3). I have attached a drawing, which describes the roof and what I want to do. The bottom of the 1'圆'collar tie is 15 1/2' from the ridge board, which is in the upper 1/3 of the vertical om what I read this is acceptable. The vertical distance from the rafter ties to the ridge board is 61'. Every rafter has a collar tie and the rafters are on 16' centers. The collar ties and ridge board are made from 1'x 6'. The rafters are supported on the bottom with rafter ties/ceiling joist. The property I have is about 45 years old and the rafters were designed with collar ties only for support (no web bracing). I am looking for some guidance on rafter/roof truss issues.
